rp² recently delivered a highly successful DWOP (Drill Well On Paper) and CWOP (Complete Well On Paper) workshop in Aberdeen, Scotland, bringing together cross-functional teams from both operator and contractor organisations.

The three-day programme consisted of a one-day DWOP session followed by a two-day CWOP workshop, providing a structured and collaborative environment to review upcoming drilling and completion activities in detail.

These sessions play a vital role in ensuring that operational teams are aligned, risks are identified early, and execution plans are strengthened well before offshore delivery begins.

Facilitated Collaboration Across Disciplines

The workshop was facilitated by John Sands, whose experience and structured approach enabled participants to challenge assumptions, share lessons learned, and improve coordination across technical functions.

Through a combination of technical presentations, breakout working groups, and open plenary discussions, the teams explored key elements of operational readiness, including:

  • Interface management across disciplines
  • Identification of execution risks
  • Mitigation planning and prioritisation
  • Strengthening communication between offshore and onshore stakeholders

The outcome was a shared understanding of execution priorities and a reinforced commitment to safe and effective delivery.

A Strong Focus on Engagement and Team Culture

In addition to technical alignment, the event placed a strong emphasis on building relationships and strengthening team culture.

Engaging ice-breakers, collaborative sessions, and evening entertainment helped introduce new team members into an already strong working environment — without detracting from the core purpose of optimising operational programmes.

This balance of professionalism and approachability was reflected in participant feedback:

“Funny, informal, relaxed yet professional — a great combination to stay engaged.”

“The group discussions were open and productive, helping identify issues we may face offshore.”

“Excellent teamwork and interaction across all parties, working together as ONE TEAM.”

Measurable Outcomes and Actionable Results

The workshop produced a total of 153 actionable items, demonstrating the depth of engagement and value generated during the sessions:

  • 77 DWOP actions
  • 76 CWOP actions
  • Input from 81 delegates

Key outcomes included stronger alignment on operational objectives, improved understanding of risks and mitigations, enhanced teamwork across interfaces, and increased confidence in safe and efficient execution of upcoming operations.

Thank You to All Participants

rp² would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed to the open, constructive discussions. The Aberdeen workshop was a great example of teams working together with a strong ONE TEAM mindset, ensuring readiness for safe and successful offshore delivery.
