rp² recently delivered an iWOP workshop in Germany in collaboration with a pioneering closed-loop geothermal technology provider, supporting planning and alignment for one of the most innovative geothermal energy projects globally.

Held over two days during June 2025, the workshop brought together experts and stakeholders across multiple disciplines to strengthen preparation ahead of spud. The session created a focused environment where teams could review complex operations, identify risks and opportunities, and align on execution priorities.

Facilitated Execution Alignment Across Teams

Facilitated by rp² Founder Dave Taylor, the workshop encouraged structured collaboration, open discussion, and technical focus across all participating teams.

Through a mix of presentations, breakout sessions, and structured reviews, participants worked together to:

• Review planned operations and execution priorities
• Identify potential risks, challenges, and improvement opportunities
• Strengthen collaboration across technical and operational teams
• Align key stakeholders before spud
• Support continuous improvement through open and honest discussion

This structured approach helped create clarity across the team and ensured that important issues were surfaced, discussed, and addressed before execution.

Value of Open Discussion and Engagement

A key strength of the workshop was the strong participation and openness shown by all involved. The format encouraged transparent discussion, constructive challenge, and active contribution from every discipline.

The combination of structured facilitation and collaborative breakout sessions helped create a positive team environment where participants could share insights, build trust, and work together toward a common goal.

Participant feedback highlighted the value of this approach:

“Structured format with excellent facilitation and team building.”

“Open and honest discussions with all players involved.”

“Useful breakout sessions and collaborative atmosphere.”

Supporting Innovation in Geothermal Energy

The workshop represented an important milestone in the planning and collaboration process for a leading geothermal energy project.

Key outcomes included:

• Improved alignment on execution planning
• Stronger understanding of operational risks and opportunities
• Enhanced collaboration across multiple disciplines
• Clearer focus on priorities ahead of spud
• Increased confidence in the project’s readiness for execution

These outcomes helped provide a stronger foundation for safe, efficient, and well-coordinated delivery.

Building Collaboration Beyond the Workshop

Beyond the technical reviews, the workshop reinforced the importance of preparation, transparency, and partnership.

The open and collaborative environment helped strengthen working relationships across all teams involved and supported a shared commitment to progress, innovation, and continuous improvement in geothermal energy.
