rp² recently delivered a Drill Well on Paper (DWOP) workshop in Bulgaria for one of Southeastern Europe’s leading energy companies, bringing together key stakeholders to support safe and efficient well delivery.

The workshop created a focused environment where multi-functional operational teams could discuss plans, explore scenarios, and identify practical solutions ahead of execution. Through open collaboration and proactive engagement, participants helped strengthen alignment and improve readiness for safe and efficient delivery.

Facilitated Operational Alignment Across Teams

Facilitated by Duncan Mackay, rp² Performance Coach, the workshop encouraged open discussion and structured collaboration across key stakeholder groups.

Through group discussions and scenario-based planning, participants worked together to:

• Map out possible operational scenarios
• Identify key risks and mitigation actions
• Strengthen communication across multi-functional teams
• Align on practical solutions to support safe and efficient delivery

This collaborative approach helped teams develop a clearer shared understanding of the challenges, priorities, and actions required for successful execution.

Value of Open Discussion and Engagement

A key strength of the workshop was the level of engagement and open sharing among participants. The format encouraged constructive discussion, active contribution, and a collaborative atmosphere throughout the session.

The workshop provided a well-organised and focused environment where stakeholders could openly discuss scenarios, raise key considerations, and contribute to practical planning outcomes.

Participant feedback highlighted the value of this approach:

“Very good discussions and mapped out all possible scenarios.”

“Group discussions and open sharing created a collaborative atmosphere.”

“Well-organised and facilitated — a key workshop for planning and risk mitigation.”

Supporting Safe and Efficient Well Delivery

The workshop helped empower operational teams by providing a structured space to review plans, align priorities, and strengthen delivery readiness.

Key outcomes included:

• Improved alignment across key stakeholders
• Clearer understanding of possible operational scenarios
• Stronger collaboration between multi-functional teams
• Practical solutions to support safe and efficient well delivery
• Increased confidence in planning and execution readiness

These outcomes helped establish a stronger foundation for delivery, ensuring teams were better prepared and aligned ahead of operational execution.

Building Collaboration Beyond the Workshop

In addition to operational planning outcomes, the workshop reinforced the importance of teamwork, communication, and shared ownership.

The open and collaborative environment helped strengthen working relationships across stakeholder groups and supported a one-team mindset focused on achieving safe and efficient well delivery.
