CWOP success in Indonesia
"There was consensus that although it takes time and money up front the payback will easily make it worthwhile."
"Contribution was valued from everybody. The atmosphere was very open, respectful and relaxed yet business like."
During 2014 Relentless Pursuit of Perfection (rp²) was engaged to facilitate a Drill-Well-on-Paper (DWOP) for a complex 10 well development offshore Indonesia. As a result of excellent planning, execution and teamwork the first 9 wells were drilled 45 days ahead of plan with NPT of only 6.8% over a campaign of 264 days. Needless to say everyone is very pleased.
The Operator is now commencing the Completions Phase. Following a ‘If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy the Operator asked Relentless Pursuit of Perfection Ltd (rp² to facilitate a 2-day Complete-Well-On-Paper (CWOP) exercise.
"The organisation and time kept for breakout groups lead to high quality excellent discussion where real problems were resolved."
The workshop brought together the main stakeholders concerned in the project including delegates from the Operator, Drilling Contractor and all the main service companies. The governing authority SKK Migas were also in attendance.
Facilitator Pete Skinner (rp²) did a fantastic job as there were one hundred and five (105) enthusiastic attendees of all different nationalities, cultures, proficiency in English and Seniority.
The workshop was judged as a major success by the Chairman (The responsible Drilling Manager). In his closing comments he noted the success of the 2014 DWOP and how it had contributed to good NPT and reduced costs. He was very happy with the outcome of this workshop was confident it would again facilitate a really good completion performance. He also noted the safety record had also been very good (but never good enough). We all know safety and performance go hand in hand. The Drilling Manager commented on the progress made with bringing everybody into one team - where everybody is equal.
"Peter, Thanks! It was my pleasure to meet with you. The CWOP was well organised, 90+ attendees on Monday must have caused a few adjustments in seating etc. Appreciate the presentations, we'll spread them out to the relevant personnel within our team here in Jakarta, Batam and Balikpapan. Hope to meet with you again sometime in the future."
Best regards, Operation Manager (from the Service Company)
Pete’s completions experience together with his training and facilitation skills were widely recognised in the feedback as being instrumental in delivering excellent quality of the breakouts. 48 significant actions were registered and will be followed up. The open communicative style helped everybody ask those questions that people usually feel to awkward to ask. 106 important points were clarified. Many of these were safety issues.
Client and Drilling contractor enjoying some team building
"I just got a confirmation from Michele about the success of the CWOP meeting. I understood there were a couple of operative questions (chemical injection through the coflexip, max valve size for well testing), but no major concerns about us"
Service Company Global Account Manager (for the Operator)
Lessons learnt were captured with specific emphasis on the Xmas tree lifting operations from the supply vessel to the designated lay down area and then transferring to the moon-pool prior to deploying to sea. This was discussed at length with the complete group, where a safer way to execute this phase of operations was agreed. Another significant element was the phases incorporating the running of the upper completion and the control lines, 7 in all, and the pad eye and spreader bar arrangement was also clarified.
"Thanks for the past couple of days, enjoyed the CWOP. Last one I went to was very out of balance, the organising of the groups made your event much more productive"
Mixed breakout client/contractor group discussion TCP phase
"Thanks for the job well done"
