ADMA: ABU DHABI (2014 – 2016)
We were contracted support the DTL Re-vitalisation for ADMA as part of the (external) ‘DTL team’. DTL = Delivering the Limit. This was conducted in two phases: Phase 1 was ‘Proof of Concept’, Phase 2 was ‘Sustainability.
For Phase 1, we provided a residential senior (office) coach and two field coaches. Our Managing Director provided adhoc, with facilitation of DWOPs and a comprehensive Gap Analysis, which was developed into a Performance Plan. Our coaches worked closely with a Drilling Optimisation Engineer whose key area of focus was in-hole drilling performance (ROP, tripping, connections, hole monitoring).

The first well was the Slot recovery and Sidetrack of a 50-year old well. The second well was a Well-Kill and Completion Recovery, followed by Slot recovery and Sidetrack.

During this Phase, our coaches worked closely with ADMA personnel to improve the quality of reporting and expand the use of the Lookahead.
Our wellsite coaches also drafted the Daily Instructions, ensuring lessons and best practices were incorporated.
As with previous assignments, our Work Breakdown Structure was used to track performance in more detail and to generate performance charts. Our AAR (After Action Review) Workbook was used to ensure that we documented all the lessons as they were encountered, before transferring them to our LOG (Action Tracker) for follow-up.
The Drilling Optimisation Engineer built on our existing mini-KPIs and some of the LR Senergy ones to present the client with evidence of progress being made.
Phase 2 focussed on handing over to the client. The mission was to “Change the attitude of the people and hand over to them”.
A Steering Committee was formed, which our Managing Director coordinated during his a bi-monthly working trips. ADMA formed four Task Forces, led by their personnel and assisted by the ‘DTL team’. The DTL process was mapped to the client’s WPP and WDP.
The DTL team was assigned for one well to a second jack-up for one well, to demonstrate the sustainability and transferability of the approach. Thereafter, the field coaches were assigned to a third jack-up for a short period and then to the three island-rigs for a period of 3 months, in a ‘roving role’.
