This is the most critical element. Without this, it is impossible to for a team to produce excellent performance. And this includes the whole team, all 200, or so, of them. The team leaders have no more important job to do than to achieve this. Therefore it should be expected to take substantial time and effort.
Remember that the final result must represent the best efforts from the entire group.
A high level of rigour is necessary, so as not to dilute the power of targeting perfection. Every deviation from perfection must be addressed, in order to achieve maximum improvement. Systems are designed to keep track of every opportunity, but are only as effective as the intention of the people to apply them thoroughly. This can be a useful measure of people’s commitment to project goals.
We mustn’t be tempted to “pad” the TL times on the Time vs. Activity curves just to make ourselves feel more comfortable. You get what you plan for; so don’t plan in mediocrity.
